Soul Exchange
Thunder rumbled against the windows of the Daily Planet. In the dim basement, Chloe Sullivan lined up a series of strange stones recently discovered at the Metropolis museum. One of them, faintly glowing green, seemed to pulse beneath her fingertips. Tired but fascinated, she reached out—and a blinding light engulfed her.
When she opened her eyes, she wasn’t in that room anymore. The scent in the air was different—vanilla and dried flowers. In front of the mirror, she saw a face that wasn’t hers. Lana Lang stared back at her, stunned, from within the reflection.
Her heart pounded as Chloe realized: somehow, their bodies had been exchanged.
The Temptation of the Heart
The first hours were a nightmare. Walking in this unfamiliar body, pretending everything was normal, enduring the looks everyone gave “Lana.” Then came Clark. The way he moved, that half-smile, the way he looked at her as if she carried the light of Kansas itself.
It was cruel—she had always loved him silently, from the edges of his world. And now fate had trapped her in the body of the woman he loved.
“You seem… different lately, Lana,” he said one evening while stacking hay in the barn.
She looked away. “Maybe I’m just learning to say what I feel.”
He smiled, touched, and his gaze made her tremble. When his hand brushed
hers, the weight of all those unspoken years broke free. The kiss that
followed was real—but built upon a lie.
Reversed Truths
Meanwhile, the real Lana, trapped in Chloe’s body, struggled to survive in her own skin. No one believed her story—not Jimmy, not anyone. Except Lex Luthor, who saw opportunity where others saw madness.
Intrigued by the idea of transferring consciousness, Lex became obsessed. If the technology existed, immortality might not be far behind. Through manipulation and deduction, he discovered the key—the stone—and sought out Clark.
“You think you know Lana?” he said with a thin smile. “What if the girl you’re kissing isn’t who you believe she is?”
The confrontation was inevitable. When the two women stood face to face, the truth could no longer be denied.
Redemption
Under the green glow of the stone, the barn trembled. A wave of energy passed through their bodies, restoring each soul to its rightful home. Chloe fell to her knees, trembling. Lana, pale and exhausted, placed a hand on her shoulder.
“You stole my life, Chloe. And him.”
“I know. And that’s why I can’t stay.”
She left without looking back.
Clark stood alone, watching her fade down the dusty road. Between the thunder and the wind, he could almost hear Chloe’s voice—the voice he’d always known better than his own breath. Only then did he realize he’d never truly understood whom he loved: the softness of Lana, the spirit of Chloe, or that fleeting moment when one carried the heart of the other.
